"I've Got A.... Lot of Self-Esteem!"

You would think even though it is now summer, I would have more time to blog on here. Alas, I do not. I am currently working at the Boys and Girls club in my hometown for a few weeks until I work for that theatre company I briefly mentioned as the Assistant Costumer.

So I have news--I am now one of the four Narrators in Into the Woods Jr. (It's a theatre camp with 35 kids, a lot of changes had to be made.) But I am happy I have a speaking role at least! (Note to self: start learning lines soon.)

Recently, an individual that goes by the name Jon Cozart (YouTube name is Paint) just recently released a sequel to After Ever After, which is a video about the reality of various Disney princesses after they achieved their 'Happy Ever After'--Ariel's home is destroyed because of the BP oil spill, Jasmine is upset because the CIA is questioning Aladdin about being linked to Al-Qaeda, Belle is being charged with Bestiality, and Pocahontas becomes murderous because of the disease-bringing Europeans. Here is the original video if you want an idea about how Paint portrays the princesses in the first video.

The sequel describes the reality of four more Disney princesses, some that are good and some that are bad--Mulan wants to become a man, Cinderella is put in a mental institution after recounting , Tiana's cafe is hit by Hurricane Katrina and she suffers in the aftermath, and Elsa becomes a dictator after her town is melted away because of Global Warming.
(This is related to theatre because of two reasons--three out of these four movies have been or are going to be put onstage in a musical form and I, a thespian, enjoy the video to an extreme measure.)

Here is the video, and I promise I will try to post more often!

"Agony, Far More Painful Than Yours!"

Wow I honestly did not realize how long it was since I posted, so I deeply apologize for that--it has definitely been a busy end of the year for me! My last day of school was Thursday but I had to finish typing my final Chemistry lab report and turn it in by 1 PM on Friday (as well as my textbook for that class).  Oy vey!

However, I was able to keep my eye on the Tony Awards and see A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder win for Best Musical! I literally screamed when they announced the winner! (For the Tony Awards performance, the cast used "I've Decided To Marry You", depicted below.)

Anyway, in my busy endeavors, I was able to both get a job at a theatre company (RB Productions) for their summer camps (I was promoted from Costume Intern to the Costume Assistant) as well as signing up to be in one of the camps (I auditioned for Into the Woods Jr., and I've been patiently waiting for the list to come out since last Sunday....and it was promised to come out on Saturday at the latest).

So meanwhile, while my friends and I wait in agony for the cast list to be emailed out, here's a clip from Into the Woods featuring a song called "Agony" (sung by Cinderella's (first) and Rapunzel's (second) princes). Oh and in case anyone was interested, both the 1991 Broadway recording of Into the Woods (this one below) and the 2008 Broadway recording of Shrek the Musical are on Netflix--both are hilarious, I highly recommend!
