"How the Scottish Invented Golf"

Well, a lot of things have been happening in the past two weeks! First off, Into the Woods Jr. went excellent--I still miss that show. Now I am getting ready to audition for Chicago in a few weeks--it is the first show my college is putting on for the school year and the audition is during the first week of classes! I hope I can make the Ensemble--it is not my favorite show but I like to be involved in various kinds of musicals.

Now I want to address the death of a particular comedian who committed suicide this past Monday; Robin Williams.

Since 1978, Williams had a successful career in both feature film acting and stand-up comedy. Some of his most famous works include Good Morning Vietnam (1987), Dead Poets Society (1989--my personal favorite movie of him), Hook (1991), Aladdin (1992), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), Jumanji (1995--one of the few movies filmed in my home state New Hampshire), and Good Will Hunting (1997).  The rest of his filmography list can be accessed here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Williams_filmography
He was truly an incredible performer and will be greatly missed in the years to come.

Now why would I mention him on my theatre blog? Well in 2002, Williams headlined on Broadway in his one-man show Robin Williams: Live on Broadway where he would perform stand-up comedy about various topics to the often sold-out Broadway Theatre--according to sources, tickets for his show would be sold out within half an hour after they went on sale.

In honor of his memory, I will post a clip from his skit on Broadway which is titled "How the Scottish Invented Golf" (fair warning, there is language and stereotyping of Scottish people).
