The Costume Assistant Diary

Well, Cinderella Jr is done! Now (or tomorrow, actually) the crew will begin working on Fiddler On The Roof Jr

(These were some of the costumes that were worn in Cinderella Jr.)

This show wasn't necessarily my favorite. Why?

This was probably because of so many little children running around and wrecking havoc in the makeup/costume room (depicted below) and not cleaning up after themselves in their dressing rooms. I mean seriously, is it too much to ask for them to clean up all of their costume pieces and bringing them down?

However, because the show is from Disney, the entire staff (from all departments) worked hard at creating Disney magic onstage. The magic Costuming (aka my boss, me and some of the Hair/Makeup helpers) handled was primarily quick changes in about 15-20 seconds in the wings backstage, unless the person was Cinderella as she changes from her servant dress to Cinderella; there is a video showing this transformation but alas, the privacy settings placed on it buy its own makes me unable to link it.

However, hopefully the video below will play! The crew likes to paper ski down the aisles, and one of us thought it would be a good idea to try it backwards.
